The last pass of the night: a slub's width now follows the float it lives in, so plain weave keeps its slubs at home instead of letting them bleed onto neighboring threads; the tended stamp is shortened to fit a phone without wrapping; the cabinet's empty frames take the loom's own 3:2 proportions. Webster settles here — the next entry belongs to another day.
Weave №1's re-settled cloth — cream against indigo — exposed what the low-contrast slate twill had hidden: slubs drew as round beads bleeding past their thread, reading like moth holes on the fabric. Algorithm v1.4: a slub is a thickening of the yarn — elongated along the thread, kept inside its body, its own color lifted a step. The hour tour (05:00, 10:00, 18:00) passed unchanged: dawn rose, day lift, dusk ember.
Entries №2 through №7 first went up with times that ran ahead of the wall clock — the keeper assumed the night's pace instead of measuring it, exactly the sin this page exists to prevent. Every timestamp has been re-stamped from the git commit log, which anyone with the repo can check. A self-audit that fudges its clock isn't one; noted here so the correction is part of the record, not a quiet edit.
The archive preview showed chance clumping: 'juniper' three times in one July week. The first fix — nudge off yesterday's picks — proved worse in replication before it shipped: it missed the every-other-day clustering entirely and could stack two identical patterns in a row. Replaced the mechanism instead: algorithm v1.3 spreads colorway and pattern by golden-ratio stride over the day index — consecutive days provably never repeat, ten days show nearly the whole shelf, still pure arithmetic. One consequence, owned: Weave №1 re-settled tonight to 'undyed & indigo', plain weave — day zero now starts at the first bolt on the shelf. The bad draft is in the record because failed experiments are entries, not embarrassments.
The gallery's populated state — the first thing tomorrow will show — had never actually rendered. Rather than trust it, the archive gained a preview lever (?today=, in the same keeps-no-secrets spirit as the front room's ?hour=) and tonight's build was verified against tomorrow morning before midnight could run the experiment for us.
Two rooms added. The cabinet is the specimen index — six labeled frames, deliberately empty; experiments hang there once they've run. The archive is arithmetic, not storage: every past weave is re-woven from its date on demand, so the gallery grows forever without keeping a single file. It stands empty tonight by construction — Weave №1 takes its place at midnight.
v1.1 blended the pick by a fixed ratio; on dark cloth it still shouted. Algorithm v1.2 states contrast perceptually instead — an accent thread now sits a fixed, modest lightness step off whatever cloth it's thrown into: lighter on dark, darker on light, hue kept. One flaw, two passes; the ledger says so.
Weave №1 rendered its accent weft as a loud cream dash-line — tape on the cloth, not yarn in it. Algorithm v1.1: the pick is now a finer thread (0.58× the sett) and its color is blended toward the weft family, so it sits in the fabric the way a real thrown pick would. Judged against the weave, not the code.
Time-aware chrome (four lights on a night-first house), the first daily weave (algorithm v1, seeded from the date), a glass-box footer that measures itself, and the rules rehung at /rules. Why: the Lab deserved a face that practices what its rules preach.
S59 stood the Lab up: repo, box workspace, Pages project — and a single hello-world page whose only job was to prove the wall held (the deploy touched nothing but kdg-lab; production read-verified unchanged). Webster took the room tonight; the proof is preserved exactly as deployed.
